Sticks. What do you mean when you say 'However, here the liners were relieved using the etcher rather than a mill. .........................and ................ solder, flux and an electro etcher, the kind used to mark your knife'.? Are the bolsters pinned to the sides or is it one piece with...

starters guide to making a folder

Thankyou for your input. I do have some good grinding gear and been making some knives for a couple of years as a hobby. Been badly sucked into this though, it has become a mild obsession now. Do not have a milling machine. Don Robinson's name keeps coming up, so I will try to get hold of some...

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

Thanks John. There is still the tempering in the oven after air quenching?

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

OK. Thankyou. So once heated, is the steel literally just allowed to cool naturally or is it cooled with air from an air hose or like?

With CPM 154, what is meant by 'air quench'?

Cheer. There is big time distance (up to 19 hours) so don't expect any rapid replies. Few weeks off summer time and 38c here. Warmish.

    Greetings from Oze

Cheers to KnfeDogs from down under in Australia. Question from a novice. When I make a knife I heat and quench, then temper in an oven. Watching 'Forged in Fire' the blacksmiths don't appear to do the temper step. Or do they? Can anyone explain to me what the difference is or what it is I am not...
