Very nice, Don. I really like it. The wood looks like Desert Ironwood but its just a guess. Glad to see you've been busy. What is the length, open and closed? Johnny

Some slipjoints for Rocky Mt. Show

What a fantastic collection of traditionals. Those long pulls are great and some really nice swedge work. Are you using a stone for your nail nicks? And I sure would like to see how you do your thong tubes! Seriously beautiful work. I am sure you are going to have a great show.

    Shadow Pattern with File Work

Thanks for the comments, guys. As always, they are very motivational for me to get back in the shop and try another one. I am really enjoying making the slip joints and the shadow patterns are my current favorite. Frank, from my experience, a shadow pattern is just a folding knife...

    Shadow Pattern with File Work

Finished this shadow pattern up last weekend. This one was for someone special so I added a bit of vine file work. I am doing my file work a bit differently now after watching Dwayne Dushane at a Hammer-In. Great walk and talk with a pull of about 6 out of 10. Black G10 with stainless...

New Slip Joint in Halloween colors.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments. I have been carrying this one all week and been using every time I get a chance. I am really pleased with the heat treat on this one and also happy with the sodbuster style pivot setup. My father always gets dibs on any knife I build so I am...

    Layout dye problems. Any help?

Mine has done exactly the same thing. I cleaned the parts with acetone and tried it again. It worked after I cleaned them so I must have had something like oil or grease that kept the dye form adhering correctly. I also use a bit of dish soap in my cooling bucket to break the surface...

    Addicted to dovetails

I think dovetails are fantastic. I use them on most of my folders. I set my tool rest in front of my flat platen to give me a 60 degree angle. I then grind both the front and rear bolsters. After they are attached to the liner, I then grind my handle material to fit. Then I slide it into...
