    Liner Lock. Take 2.

I've started on my second liner lock. This time I will concentrate on my process. The liners are going to be stainless steel and the blade will be 1095. I also procured some 1/16" ball bearings to use for the detent. Dang those things are small. Jake

    A Question About Folder

Kuraki, thanks. What do you mean by the relief cut in the lock bar? Bladegrinder, I'll try that on my next folder. I have a sheet of stainless steel that I'm using for the liners. Thanks. Jake

    A Question About Folder

Thanks J. Doyle. Good points to look for. I knew this knife was going to be a bit of a basket case. I think I'm going to shelve it for now and use it as an example of what not to do. I have ordered some ball bearing (detent) for the next knife. I also need to get some fasteners, probably 4-40...

    A Question About Folder

C Craft, yep that blade is way off. For washers I used brass shim stock. The gap on either side of the is equal. J. Doyle, this is not a well made folder. The back spacer is part of the same piece of O1 for the blade. It is flanked by the same brass shim stock. The blade doesn't drag while...

    A Question About Folder

I finished my first liner lock and plan to make some more. When I had the knife mocked the blade was centered between the liners when closed. After the final assembly the blade is pushed to one side. How do you guys prevent this? Thanks. Jake

    First Folder. Worts and All.

The good news is that the blade locks up tight with no wiggle. However the blade is not centered when closed. Oh well. Jake

Here is my design revision to take care of the issue in the first design. If anyone is on the fence about making a folder, just do it. Any criticism or suggestions are welcome. Jake

    First Folder. Worts and All.

The parts circled in red are problems that I encountered while building this knife. Since I utilized the the CAD drawing as my templates problems occurred. The last picture is supposed to show my attempt to use a set screw as a detente. At the time it's what I had to use. I also used 1/8" roll...

I designed this knife with the use of Draftsight CAD. The numbers are based on the materials I have on hand.
