Finished my first folder. From CAD to cutting steel. A lot of firsts with this one. Self criticism soon to follow.

Congratulations on your first folder. I would be proud of the achievement if I was in your shoes. There will be mistakes, but you're on a learning curve and the next one will be better. I am yet to build my first folder.
Well done!

I designed this knife with the use of Draftsight CAD. The numbers are based on the materials I have on hand.

The parts circled in red are problems that I encountered while building this knife. Since I utilized the the CAD drawing as my templates problems occurred. The last picture is supposed to show my attempt to use a set screw as a detente. At the time it's what I had to use.
I also used 1/8" roll pins since the smallest fasteners available to me were 10-32. Not a really attractive and not very secure. The pivot is a Corby bolt. For the washers I used a sheet of brass. It's the same brass used in the spacer.
The blade is O1. I was lazy and left the scale on. I haven't made a thumb stud. The liners are some stainless steel which actually worked better than I thought. Scales are made of burlap homemade mycarta.
Besides the electricity the only money spent on this project was the resin for the scales.

Here is my design revision to take care of the issue in the first design. If anyone is on the fence about making a folder, just do it. Any criticism or suggestions are welcome.

Nice first one. At least you got thru it. I didn’t finish my first and second.
Keep going..

The good news is that the blade locks up tight with no wiggle. However the blade is not centered when closed. Oh well.
