    I'm Fullered

Well this thread took an interesting turn. I assembled my first AR in 1998. I was stationed at Ft. Drum NY no less. My first 80% was a Tannery Shop casting in 2000. ARs have come a long way since then. I'm working on a short video about the fullering tool. Jacob

    Ice

That gets cold there for sure. I was stationed at Ft. Drum for six years. A couple of times the base closed down because of the cold and snow! Jacob

    I'm Fullered

I used an old file for the cutter. To use it I clamp stops where ever I want the fuller to start and stop. It had an adjustable guide so the fuller can be made at any width of the blade. After everything is set where I want it I use it by drawing it towards me. It essentially scrapes the fuller...

    "Tactical" Tomahawk Request

Thanks guys. I do have a forge but I need to get some propane for it. After looking around I'll probably get some of the 4 inch wide 5160. Jacob

    "Tactical" Tomahawk Request

So one of my coworkers asked if I could make him a tactical tomahawk. Similar to the RMJ and that style. He wants the one piece style or integrated type. I don't know what steel to use. 5160 maybe. Any how where would a guy be able to find a piece of steel say 1/4"×8"×18" or so? Jacob

    Making your own pocket clips?

How do you guys attach your pocket clips? Drill and tap the handle material or tap the liner and drill a clearance hole in the scale? Jacob

    New Camo Hunter

Nice. The blade looks good but that dyed maple burl looks great. Jacob

    Liner Lock. Take 2.

Second blade has some issues. I drilled the detent hole on the blade before it was completely closed. Aaguh. Fortunately this blade is wide enough that the point can be dropped. Jacob

    Question of why???

I remember watching a movie about the WW2 death camps. I think it was called the escape from Sobibor (not sure of the spelling). Any way one of the brave heroes had a knife and stabbed one of the guards. The handle slipped and cut the hero. For some reason I have remembered this. My take away...

    Question of why???

My first real knife has that feature. I did it because I didn't want my finger to slip over the blade. After a few years I keep thinking I should reshape that part but I decided to leave it. A learning or an advancement in evolution of my knife making. Jacob

    Thinning Down Scales

I was going to make one of these. I was talking to my Dad about it. Well I came home with a slightly used Grizzly planer. He used it for thinning down Koa planks for his knife scales. Jacob

    New (to me) Vertical mill!

There was a similar one I used at the last place I worked. It was made by Rotex. I wanted to buy it but the owner sold everything to the competing company. I do remember that it used some sort of collets. Jacob
