    New to the shop

Nice... I believe this really should be one of the first items a knife maker should purchase. And I think many pros would agree with that. However it seems to ends up being much further down the road. Mostly because of the expense I suppose. Even on e-bay they're pricey. I still don't have one.

What's going on in your shop?

Thanks...I think that is where my problem is. I've been using melted candle wax. It's just too brittle

What's going on in your shop?

Thanks Gene...I'll give this another try following your method closely. What kind of wax are you using? I used candle wax last time. But I just thought that maybe you've been using paste wax? Like Johnson's paste wax? Could that be the difference?

What's going on in your shop?

Not yet. I'll have to find a ball bearing somewhere. I have a bearing I could take apart I suppose. When I do I'll post a video

I've also bought a couple items for the shop. Including a 110 lb Anvil from Vevor for $179 including shipping!! The 66 lb got good reviews from several sources, including from Black Bear Forge. What's going on in your shop?

I've been fairly busy in the shop lately. At least for me. I've been working on a knife for my step-son for sometime now. But with a lot of family illness and a death in the family, I haven't had much time, until now. So here's the knife ready for glue-up. And I have a question for those...

    Mini Lathe - Good deal?

That was partly why I changed my mind. There are plenty of parts for South Bends, but I'm not certain I would even have the expertise to put this together. I think it might be a good deal for someone familiar with these kind of lathes. But I have no experience with lathes other than a little bit...

    Mini Lathe - Good deal?

I changed my mind on this. Even if it's viable, it's just too much work.

    Mini Lathe - Good deal?

Here's an interesting idea. The price is certainly right at $300.00 a South Bend Lathe Project. I would certainly learn a lot this way. I'm just wondering if this is too much of a project? I'm going to go look at it tomorrow. https://classifieds.ksl.com/listing/76101336

Agreed. I would add that a drop point design is probably the easiest design to make. At least it has been for me.
