I only angle the table for the slanted plunge line. I keep it at a right angle to the bevel if you get what I mean. For a straight up plunge line like on a normal knife I guess you could say the the table would be 90degrees to all sides of the platen if you get what I'm sayin. I just tilted the...

Here is a link to my first YouTube video ever. Showing How I Grind with a push stick. YouTube Link I use this way of grinding because its way faster and the belts last longer from the High pressure I can use. I did both sides up to 60grit in 30mins. Almost ready to put some clay on the blade.

Gene this is just a suggestion but I was at a ABS Hammer-in and there was class on knife design that Kevin Cashen did. He basically went over how to make a Knife with that type of guard you are making. He suggested to put a spacer behind the guard the same length as the ricasso. So its like a...

    Needle Files

@Retroguy Na That's to much work for me. I just grind with a 36grit belt and keep it cool with a bucket of water. I clean it up with 220grit and I'm done. Real simple and real quick.

    Needle Files

I make smaller files out of larger files. The needle files I have used I find are 2 fragile and bendy if you get what I mean. I have never used the riogrande 1's that a lot of people like.

    Sanding transitions

Use a hard back and sand on a angle with half on the harder material and half on the softer material. Focus most of your pressure on the harder material.

Hidden Tang shoulder /no file guard

A file Guide also has like 50 more uses then cutting shoulders on a hidden tang. I use it on ever full tang knife I make. I wouldn't even make knives with out mine

I also wanted to mention that the 3/8" that I like the guard to be is for the style of guard I am making on my drawing. There are many styles of gaurds that I think wont look right 3/8" thick. Everybody has there own style so use what you think looks good.
