Sanding transitions

When you have a metal spacer between two softer materials, how on earth do you get a perfectly flat tradition? The softer materials always wear away and leave the metal bump.

Hard backer for the sandpaper. You don’t want anything with give or it will give way for the harder material.

Absolutely concur!!! A hard sanding "stick" is a must in those situations.....and a very careful hand.

Use a hard back and sand on a angle with half on the harder material and half on the softer material. Focus most of your pressure on the harder material.
