    Spindle sander?

They ARE the same. These are Chinese made machines from the same factories and sold to various names. It’s the same deal as the X2 mini mill(like I have), being sold under the names Saig, Central Machinery, Grizzly, and many, many more! Very common thing with CHINESIUM goods. These machines are...

    Another Makers Mark Question

Precisely! Shame democrats no longer believe in this. :) I do think it’s very cool you are willing to help others at NO CHARGE Randy. Good form.

    Spindle sander?

You didn’t miss anything Tim. Sorry, I should have been more specific. It’s just something Ken & I have been talking about privately. Him & I are online friends apart from the forum, and we usually have a conversation on one topic or another. LOL. But didn’t do a thread. We were both going to...

    Another Makers Mark Question

Make something yourself. DO NOT pay someone to “design” something for you. Make it your own. What YOU want. Personally, I’d recommend against using an Elk. It’s been used SOOOO much! It’s like every hunters “go to” animal, lol. I not fond of animals at all really...but it is cool when there is a...

    Spindle sander?

LOL! Ken & I have been talking about this for a few weeks. I brought it up to him & he pulled the trigger. I hope he chimes in because we had some ideas on it.

    SGA 45 degree setup.

LOL! Well, I surely don’t care about trends. But I love that SO many builders have taken this on. I can’t wait to see who builds one next.

    SGA 45 degree setup.

Here’s a little better view as finished. Made a clamp handle real quick with some 7075-T6 scrap I had. All the surfaced with a fly cutter.

    SGA 45 degree setup.

I’ve had this setup from when I built the first “DIY” SGA. Recently I decided to overhaul the setup. Clean up the “rough” edges and more importantly, strengthen by adding rigidity. The bracket consists of a 2” aluminum square tube w/ 1/4” wall thickness. It has a 4” piece of 1.5” arm bolted in...

Looking good partner. :) LOL, we ALL say the same thing my friend. The great thing though, “practice” is exactly what doing is!

Exactly! Use it once, and you’ll never make another knife WITHOUT using it!

Looks to me like another candidate to to follow myself and so many others, in the DIY build of a Surface Grinder Attachment. I promise you won’t regret it!

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

Many already did in 2017, LOL! :D But hey, I picked up a $35 XY Axis table & it got the job done! The original one cost me about $250 total...including the end mills, & Axis table, etc. And it held a few thous. tolerance. I have posted a video using the original setup. I think it worked pretty...

    Scandi bevel degrees?

I’ve been using an online angle calculator & Jigs since 2014(when my arm was paralyzed). Free-handing with the one arm/hand is a might too “superhuman” for the likes of me, LOL!

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

I actually milled my mag chuck initially with my little HF 8” Drill Press! Wasn’t the prettiest, but it worked. So if you have a drill press, you CAN still build one. Of course a mill is MUCH preferred. I purchased a mill shortly after building the first SGA in the original thread. So now I...

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

Oh yes! I forgot that... Thank you for pointing that out Ken. Ya know, that is one of those little details that needs be addressed in every SGA thread. Making certain the magnets are set deep enough in the Chuck for surfacing, from the start! (I set the magnets approx .100” bellow the surface.)...

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

Good stuff man! .001-.002” is on par with the results of every SGA, including Travis Wuertz original. Any belt style Surface Grinder is going to have similar results. The stone Surface Grinders can hold a couple tenths accuracy across a piece...I’m talking .0002”! Insane! But remember, how many...

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

You ain’t kidding in that Ken! I was riding my when the accident that disabled, paralyzed & almost cost my life happened! Though I didn’t make the “mistake”. Someone causes me to separate from my bike & I was run over by an SUV. Sorry to go off topic...but I had to reply to what you said Ken...

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

Just much easier. Results are the same no matter vertical, horizontal or 45 degree angle. But I find 45 degree most comfortable & the ground material can easily be directed into a bucket for the most part, keeping things much cleaner. Overall it’s more enjoyable. Ya know J, I don’t really have...

    Surface Grinding Attachment - SGA

Hey J, something else came to mind while watching your video....you should do a 45 degree angle tooling arm setup, as I have. It works SOOO much better than straight up & down. And honestly, I think it’s better than horizontal as well. Here is my setup now. And the beautiful finish it leaves.
