Proper Quenchant for 80crv2- Parks #50 or AAA?

Kevin Cashen, Is there a simple chart/spreadsheet that has a list of steels and what oil or quench method is recommended? I see alot of heat treat recommendations on websites that state quench in oil. I'm probably not versed in HT enough to know which steels needing a fast vs a slow.

I just put down a sheet of wax paper and do it inside the house. Roll up and toss in the trash after curing.

Possibly stupid question about plate quenching.

That is what I find is when the steel is softer I can easily booger up things on a thin blade quick before heat treat. With good ceramic belts it doesn't take any longer to really grind it in the hardened state. Your mileage may vary.

Possibly stupid question about plate quenching.

I dont grind anything 1/8" or smaller til after heat treat. I think I grind better in general on hardened steel.

    Handle Treatments

I put Truoil on a kitchen knife I made about 2 years ago or maybe a little longer. I just started to notice the other day that it's lost a bit of its shine. This is a knife we use everyday at our house and always handwashed. I think 1 or 2 coats of truoil and it would be good for another couple...
