    Road Runner handled damascus knife

Awhile back I got the idea to use a scroll saw to cut out a design in a knife handle and fill it with InLace. InLace is sold in wood supply places and also in some knife supply places. It comes in several colors, but being in the South West, I use turquoise. The problem with a design on a...

Great buy. I have used one for over 30 years. Wear ear protection. They are noisy.

Show me your dust collection system

Well, I guess it was a bad idea for me to post the pictures. The person who started this thread asked for pictures, and when no one answered, I thought I would try to help out. Sorry.

Show me your dust collection system

I hesitate to show pictures for fear someone may copy my set up and burn their shop down. Fire is a very real possibility, and should not be taken lightly. I have several smoke alarms to give me warning if anything goes wrong. I also have several fire extinguishers. You will notice in the...

TW-90 surface grinder vacuum set up Shop Tip

I have never used a KMG. I have heard many good things about it, and I think there are many satisfied owners of the KMG. Beaumont Metal Works is a first class shop and they produce excellent products. The TW-90 will change from vertical to horizontal which I like. For me the TW-90 is the...

TW-90 surface grinder vacuum set up Shop Tip

Laurence, thanks for the reminder! Possible fire is something to be very aware of. I have several smoke detectors inside my shop and by the dust collector which is outside. Laurence, I notice you live in Santa Monica. I was born in Santa Monica and for the first 9 months of my life lived on...

TW-90 surface grinder vacuum set up Shop Tip

There was another thread about the TW-90, so I thought I would show my vacuum set up for it. The TW-90 surface grinding attachment throws horizontal sparks. I used a plastic dust hood that wood working stores sell. I attached a flexible vacuum hose from the hood to my vacuum system. The...

    Is brass outdated?

Around 25 years ago, Bob Jones, a member of the Knifemakers Guild told me, "Brass is out". You might look in the "Knives 2014" book and see what is being used. I think brass goes good with a Bowie knife.

    Hi from New Mexico

Wayne, I live in Carlsbad. Lovington is not that far away. Tennessee is a nice state. My son used to live there, between Memphis and Nashville. I always enjoyed going there. Tennessee is also in the heart of knifemaking country.

    Hi from New Mexico

I have sold knives for over thirty years. I have been in the Knifemakers Guild and also had Journeymans status in the ABS. I am no longer in either of those organizations. They are fine organizations, but I got tired of the 1100 mile trip to Atlanta, and the trip to Florida for the Guild...
