    Orbis - Brend style

And the end result: 11 inch long blade, hollow parts are polished and the flats handrubbed to 1000 grit. This project has been quite a challenge.....as was taking some decent pictures..... :D I take my hat of for mr Brend and all others who do these grinds.

    Orbis - Brend style

A good friend asked me to make him an Orbis with a blade that is based on Walter Brend's knives. Since I'm a big fan of mr Brend, I accepted the challenge. The blade is forged out of a block of O1 toolsteel, has a blade of 11 inches....here are the first pictures: My mini press...

    Taurus 12 - Desert Queen

Knifemaker Erik Markman and I made a deal, he would build me a knife and I will build him one. Because Erik is less lazy than me, I received my knife last week. I gave it a Flat Dark Earth coating an here it is, a beautiful tactical integral! Model: Taurus 12 Blade length: 5" Steel: O1...

    Bull Shark - Black/OD

Today I finished a Bull Shark M. Black GunKote coating and OD green micarta grip. Steel is CruForge V this time, an excellent steel for a user in my opinion. Ingredients of the steel: C: 1.05 Cr: 0.50 V: 0.75 M: 0.75 Here are some pictures:

    Orbis 10 in the making

O man I hate filing guards, it's the reason I started making integrals

    Orbis 10 in the making

And a bit more action... Drawing the rough lines on the blank. Important for the positioning of the wings and the point. Here I used the angle grinder to cut of the point in reverse. So the angled part will become the back and the straight part the edge. Than I made two cuts which I will...

    Orbis 10 in the making

I started on an Orbis 10 and thought it would be nice to take pictures of the whole process. The Orbis 10 is an integral bowie styled user knife. This one will get a double guard, only the upper guard will be just high enough to place a lanyard hole in it. It will get a brown micarta handle and...

    Orbis 6

It's December so I decided to get myself a present! Unfortunately I had to make it myself.....;) I made an Orbis 6, Cerakote coating, stabilized Maple burl grip. Sheath I still have to make. The knife is forged out of 1 piece of 1.2510 (O1), which makes it a half integral. Steel...

    Even more Orange!

the jimping is not machine cut. I use a checkering file and cut the jimping as deep as the file will go. You end up with very sharp tips which I flatten with a fine file. For me this is the only way to get it even. (still having troubles sometimes).

    Even more Orange!

The orange keeps on coming back in my knives lately.... Bull Shark M, black linnen micarta grip, orange and black G10 liners, 1.2510 steel selectively hardened, graphite black CeraKote finish and last but not least a hardened pommel. Sheath will follow.
