Ceramic tile to keep flux from messing up my forge?

Im going to start forge welding in my 3 burner gas forge. The manufacturer suggests using a piece of ceramic tile on the bottom of the forge to keep any flux from gumming up the brick lining. What do you vets think about that? Better suggestion? Thanks!

    Contact wheel size.

So,I was looking to purchase a contact wheel, 10 to 14inches, to help with some handle shapng as well as trying my hand at some hollow grinding, and just because I want one. I have a kmg grinder, and kmg sells wheels for it but they are very expensive. I've found some other sites selling...

What's going on in your shop?

New shop is almost full power. I recently moved. And at my old home I was always tripping the breaker. No more. I told the electrition I wasn't to be able to run every tool I own a full power at the same time. So, that's what he did. It's been like three months that or so since I've...

    So, actually shop location question.

Long story short, I'm divorced now, had to buy a house. I'm moved in, basement is split in half, half gym and half shop. Full wall with a a sliding door separates. The shop side also has its own entrance to the outside. My question is this. Who has their knife shop in their basement...

    Looking for constructive criticism please.

Thank you as well. I did use an old lockback as a template. I love the size of the handle in my hand, but I agree, I need to work on the shape so it doesn't look like a potato. I'm moving my shop, so in a few weeks I'll get back to it. Maybe the break will do the creative side some good...

    Looking for constructive criticism please.

Thank you Ed. I agree the handles are pretty damn big compared to the blades. I got stuck in the "I want to use as much of the mammoth tooth or ivory" as I could. When I should have cut those scales in half and had enough for two folders. And noted on the copper pins. I should know...

    Looking for constructive criticism please.

First off, please don't take my request for criticism to just be an a-hole. Please use some tact if possible. But I'm really enjoying making these lockback folders. I really have the function down, even my peening has gotten really good. But I guess I'm wondering if there is something to...
