Morland KITH 2020

Dennis Morland

KNIFE MAKER
I missed last year’s Bowie KITH. So I seriously considered making a Bowie. While looking through the shop checking on materials I came across this piece of 1075. Roughly 5.5 inches long, 1.75 inches wide, and .250 inches thick.

Think, think, think. What do you make with a short piece of steel? I went to my photo library of knife ideas. I keep a library of knife photographs on my cellphone of knives that catch my interest. Found my answer and I have never made this style of knife. Game on!! Going to be a big challenge.

I have only scratched the surface of this site (Bruce is wearing me out like an old pack mule) but I was browsing the leather works area and saw Dennis that you have posted some stuff in the tips n tricks - the sheathes you pictured there were mighty fine looking - I bet you have some that are really really nice - I'll have to snoop more - lovin' the dagger!

Very neat design!

Ultimately, I hope that you will enjoy your new knife. I also hope that I can get it successfully completed. The four side matching bevels is a bit of a concern for me. I will need to investigate the best way to complete that task. A KITH is a great time to stretch yourself and discover new skills. We shall see...

I will make it easy for you. Here is a thread with my most recent knife stuff.
