Hey all post here looking for recommendations for a new grinder. I guess I will give some idea of my requirements. I wan one mainly for folder work. I have two semi home built vertical grinders. (need a new bigger work table), but an ideal unit horizontal with a three(3) inch wheel a one and one half inch(1-1/2) wheel and flat work area with a platen. I though of a tipping grinder but don't think I can get all my requirements. Or should I scrap the whole idea and go to two flat disk grinders????? Come on dont be shy I can take it give me your best shot..

Hell if someone is NOT ood wih heir hands a person could spend 2-3000$ easy Guy at blade show w/ surface grinder attachment thru the roof what does a Burr King cost now just the basic??? What I need is a horizontal for folders.

What is your budget?
Hey Tracy starting this quest for info was really a pie in the sky. Thanks but not one recommendation did I get is worth a flip. I guess I was at fault for being so general. My bad , quess I will go with plan "B". There are some great grinders out there in every form and function. What I REALLY want is a horizontal or THE HINGES TO FLIP OR LAY DOWN A VERTICAL. My budget is ALASP I am retired on social security.

I did a google search on horizontal knife grinder plans and found quite a few different options. Perhaps this will you get you started.

If you have two vertical grinders now, perhaps you could adopt one for horizontal use based on some of the plans mentioned in the URL
Yes but i have a third that i was thinking of doing just that. But NO ONE wants to share a well made hindge with clear dimensions.
