This knife was my great grandfather's and was obviously not taken care of. It bounced around in his tool box and was used as a shop tool for decades. Several years ago my mother asked me if I wanted it and I eagerly accepted it with the intentions of restoring it. I tried to keep as much of the original knife as I could. I had to regrind the blade which was very slow going as I didn't want to lose any of the hardness of the blade. The design itself is somewhat complicated and with the rivets being so close to the edge I had no choice but to go with rivets upon reassembly. It gave me fits and I held my breath riveting this thing together!! I remade or cleaned and polished everything and got it working like new again. really pleased with how it turned out!
