C'mon Josh, dont tease, lets see a shot of that filework. The blade looks great. You were right to be pleased with those grinds, keep it up!

Sean,

Here's a shot of the filework. I gave this knife a good performance test today and she did great. Hacked on a palm stump and an oak 2x4 for awhile and still shaving sharp. also did some stab in and twist moves. Probably just the norm for most makers but I was pretty stoked considering this is my first Sole Authorship heat treat.

Outstanding!
That swedge looks even better from the top. File work is all nice and even, you should be proud of this one. What kind of handle you thinking about?

Jim,

Thanks for the vote of confidence !
Hmmmm. Only the things I haven't tried yet I guess. I've always been the kinda guy who figured I could do anything I set my mind too. Doctor, Lawyer, Architect... Nah just dosen't fit with my personality.

Knifemaking... Now here's something I can really sink my teeth into.

Now that you mention it I did make a graver from a piece of O1 drill rod the other day. Haven't played with much yet but it cuts brass with no problem. Gotta work on the geometry though as it's a bit awkward to engrave with.

Engraving is something I'd really like to learn so figured I'd wing it and get started, LOL

I think half the battle is just going for it. The other half is of course practice.

I aspire to be a Sole Authorship maker who does it all so to speak so I wanna try everything.

Josh,
I just noticed that you hacked on a palm stump...on the 31st here it was 40 degrees and raining. You got a room for rent?;)

Sean,
Sorry no room for rent but there are some good deals on forclosures down here. It has been unusually hot lately. Mid to upper 80's. I't been getting nice at night though around 70. If it gets under 70.... long sleeves. Under 65 I'm bustin out the Carhartt.,LOL
