A couple of my knives.

I've been making knives for a couple of years so i thought i'd show a few. I don't have a workshop, so i make them in the kitchen when i get the chance. They are all made on a homemade filing jig. They are slowly improving in quality i think. I don't sell any, i usually give them away to friends and family. I guess i just enjoy the challenges involved in making them.

very cool they look good, got a pic of that fileing jig? sure theres some that would like to see that.

Thanks Franklin! I have a couple of pics of the jig. It aint pretty, but it does the job. Some of the knives in my pics were taken before the final sharpening so the points look poor.

The knives look great, I like the file jig.. Thanks for posting the pics.. :) and welcome to Knife Dogs!

Holy cow, you do all that with a file? I'm impressed! And, I feel lazy. Nice job!

Thanks! I'm just making the odd knife for my own pleasure, so there's no pressure on me. I've always liked knives and i like having a go at making things, so it's just been a kind of natural progression. If i see a knife that i like then i'll just make my own little version of it. It gives me something to do when i'm not fishing or shouting at the kids:biggrin:

Darren.

Thanks for the comments guys! None of them are perfect, far from it,but i'm slowly improving. If i ever make a perfect one then i'll probably quit and take up something else!! Maybe knitting!!

Very nice work. I give you two thumbs up for tenacity...and 5 toes up for your perseverance. (I'd give you more toes, but that's all I got. *long story*)

Thanks Eric!

Where there's a will there's a way as they say and that's very true. The next small batch i'm working on will be better quality again. Onwards and upwards,as i've learned a lot from the mistakes i've made. My Grandfather always said, the man who never made a mistake, never made anything!!.......Now i know exactly what he meant!!!

wow!!! very nice work man... excellent jiganometry :D, beautiful knives and awesome patina.. mind sharing how you did the patina??

The patina was done using Salad Cream. I just put random stripes across the blade and left for 45 minutes. Cleaned it off and repeated the process 4 times.

If you can do all that with a a file I can only imagine what you could do with some good equipment. By the way, those knives would certainly sell. They are really nice. Welcome to Knifedogs and welcome to the knifemaking addiction.

That's some excellent work. That filing jig is undeniably the best I've ever seen, and you're knives sure aren't shabby, neither! Talk about inspirational...
