Call this a lame excuse, but the autocorrect on this phone (Galaxy S20) sucks. It's made me doubt my spelling. It didn't recognize the word propensity and changed it to something else, so I tried perpensity and it didn't correct it.

It also likes to changr words and phrases that make perfect sense and change them to stuff that's really dumb.

Ever seen a "ball pain hammer"? Me neither, but my phone seems to think I'm more likely to mention THAT than a ball pein.

By appearance alone, almost certainly cocobolo.

How to check,

Sand/ cut it. Is the dust orange/reddish/ darkbrown, and does the dust clump together very easily, sort of like wet sand

Does it smell spicy?

What color are the fresh cut surfaces?

if you wipe it with a papertowel wet with acetone, does it stain the towel?

So I cut a piece off.

The dust is reddish / dark brown. It does not clump like wet sand.

It does not smell as spicy as I thought it did last time I sanded it.

It does stain a towel when wiped with acetone.

Here is a picture of the fresh cut surface...

I would have guessed cocobolo or rosewood looking at the first few posts. I got highly sensitized to Cocobolo, so make sure you are wearing a respirator when working it, and like Ben says, cover up and wash off well afterwards. Wood allergies are no joke and shut me down for 5 years!
