wolf tracks or deer tracks etching print

I bought a knife with wolf tracks done with either acid or vinegar etching on shiny L6 steel blade. How do I take the foot prints off completely and buff to be shiny again? Rey in Texas

Depends on how deeply the etching is.....it can vary from simple hand sanding if the etch is very shallow, to requiring a complete "regrind" if the etch is deep. Unless you're versed on blade finishing, I would recommend contacting the maker, and seeing what he/she would charge you to do it. Depending on the type of configuration (guard, handle, scales, type of grind, etc.) it could be either an easy job, or a real tough one.

Knives are works of art.

I, personally, am a proponent of leaving them the way the maker intended, and buying something else that suits your needs, if that one doesn't.

It's your to do with as you wish of course, but one wouldn't buy the Mona Lisa then go about crossing here eyes, because well, I love a cross eyed girl...

Thanks and I will give a try to get it off by belt grit steps 400
- 1200 grit then buff & polish.
