What woods dont need a finish? tung oil etc.

In cased missed it in a post or something, Is there a list of what woods don't need to or won't take a finish?(like tung oil) I have seen oily exotic woods that don't. But is there a clear list or maybe just tell what you know in your experience.

I don't recall ever seeing any kind of list. I think you just kind of learn about different woods as you progress in knifemaking.

Stabilized wood doesn't need or really take a finish other than fine sanding and light buffing. The same is true of heavy, dense, and oily woods. You might get a finish on them but it will rub off in short order. Woods that are commonly used in furniture will need to be stabilized or finished in some manner.

That's not a list but maybe it will help along the way.
