hi,
pictures of what I am working on. the knives are made of Aldo's 1084. i have been trying different filing jigs when i made the small knives. i know the blade shape is really far out, but i am trying to get even edges in shorter time. i left the blade edge at 0.5mm. they are awaiting heat treat.
the larger knife has a 360 brass bolster, dogwood handle with stainless steel dowel pins. waiting on a shipment of 1000 and 2000 grit wet/dry paper to finish sharpening and polishing.
any suggestions?
thanks for looking and commenting

Are you going for a convex edge on the smaller ones? How thick is the steel? That's a chopping blade shape so it makes sense to me to leave some meat on the spine to add weight to the chopping. When you get to actually chopping with those, you may wish you had a little more handle to hang onto, unless you have really smallish hands. I'd maybe sweep the tip back, maybe from the edge to the spine slightly like a wharncliffe not very much maybe less than 5 degrees, just to give the forward tip of the edge a slight point to start the cut. The big one looks like you may have done that.

Were it me, I'd consider a faux guard/bolster where the handle meets the tang, to add a little arc in there. If your hand slides up on the grip, it'll tend to pinch your finger in the square notch.

steel is 1/8", 3.5mm actual. handles are a little small as i was trying to get the most blanks out of the piece of steel flatstock. will probably do a 1/2 tang handle by routing a groove in the scales. thank you for the advise. by bush do you mean you got stuck on the bigdeck named bush?? you poor lad. i guess it is better than being stationed on the gerald ford.
i was ship company on the independence, america, and teddy roosevelt.
