Whad I miss?

Doing well, I just haven’t been making knives. I enjoy it but need a reason and I don’t sell them. I just thought I’d come back to see what’s going on. You are a great bunch of guys.
Need a reason? How about Christmas isn't too far away and your ol buddy Randy needs a new knife. :) Just kidding. Glad you're back around. I haven't been in the shop too much lately myself Too dang hot but I did manage to get in a few hours this evening.

Haha, That’s part of the reason. It’s way too hot. I don’t have the best space. Some tools downstairs, grinder in the garage that creates a mess on everything. Also Covid has me transitioning the population I see So not much tome for hobbies. I saw mostly children in my therapy practice. I‘m studying and getting credentialed to work with adult substance abuse clients.

Mark, I too have been absent from knife making for a while. As I mentioned in my posting on hip failure and subsequent replacement, out of necessity, I have been up close and personal with opioids (first time ever). What a dance with the devil! I never fully appreciated how easily a person can become addicted to drugs like this. After 2 weeks post-surgery I have now finally stopped using pain killers, it was surprisingly difficult. I thought I could just stop at any time... not so... the effects after trying to cut back, or stop, are much more dramatic than anything I could have imagined. However, I'm saving a few of those little pills for the next time I try to cut my finger off in the bandsaw! There's a place for everything, eh?
Good for you for helping those who become addicted, that's a noble cause.
Bob
PS: I miss seeing the many excellent knives you have made - a great eye for style and detail, coupled with excellent workmanship.

Hey Bob, exactly why I have an interest. I too got very close to become addicted From back pain years ago. Or maybe I was. Where is the line? Glad you got off them. Thanks for the compliment. I tend to jump hobbies, but knife making seems to have stuck.

I hear ya there! I have neighbors that complain sometimes too! So I have stuff in Garage. Basement and my "MANCAVE"! Can't put a lot of equipment in garage because of moisture! Any steel rusts horrible!
