I really enjoy making knives and all the stuff that goes with it.
So , I decided that my 6 x 6 shop just wasn't cuttin the mustard. Lo and behold , today I got a sale brochure from Costco.
In said advertisement , there was a 14 x 8 shed kit. Doors, windows etc. Even has the nails and screws. Cost was $1500.00
so, I got a new shop building coming to the farm. And here I was wondering what I was gonna do this summer.
Y'all might wanna take advantage of this sale, it goes to the end of the month. And don't nobody tell me it was a waste of money cause ya seen my knives! push comes to shove, we get a new guest cabin . ( That no nasty commenters will ever be invited to for huntin or fishin!
 
That's a good size for shop. I'm using half of a 2 car garage, which equates to about exactly what you're going to have. My shop is like a Tetris puzzle, but it's extremely efficient. I don't have to move anything to work. It's set up like a restaurant kitchen, a narrow series of stations. I love it. Even if I had a gigantic shop, I'd set up the knife area exactly like I have it now. If I had more room I'd add machine tools but I wouldn't change my current knife-process area one bit. You're going to love your new shop.

One of my closest friends purchased that same kit from Costco ..... he was TICKED about his. It was missing a number of pieces/items, and he said he was really frustrated by pieces that had "dual functions" that had to be installed a specific way, but didn't say so in the instructions..... and he only discovered that when he was almost completed.. He said that rather then take the entire thing apart, he went and spend another $500 at the lumberyard for whatever it was.
Not sure how you'd do it, but based on his experience, I'd check it out completely, to make sure you go all the goodies you need! :)

Thanks Ed , for that info. Fortunately , I'm the kind of guy that when the instructions say "check the packing list and instructions to make sure your package is complete" that's exactly what I do. That seems to mitigate any difficulty with missing parts. I've had to wait weeks to finish a project just because I didn't do that simple first step.

I would love to have someone with more brains than me come over and help me streamline my shop setup! I am wasting a ton of space!
