Von Gruff's KITH knife

Gene Kimmi

KNIFE MAKER
First, I want to apologize for not posting this sooner, I have been super busy at work and filling Christmas knife orders in my spare time.

The knife came wrapped in a blue cloth with a care card, certificate of authenticity and a business card. It was packaged very well with a nice coat of oil on the blade.

My first impression of the knife is that it is definitely a design made to be used. It fits the hand perfect, has a blade shape that will perform many tasks and most importantly, it is super sharp. I am really torn between using this knife or making it the first in my collection of custom knives. It is a very well made, beautiful knife with zero flaws!

I was really impressed by the handle and bolster fit on this knife. Perfection!

I have been intrigued by Garry's method of waxing his sheaths. After receiving his knife, I am impressed with the sheath and will be experimenting to see if I can do as good of a job as he does on my own sheaths. I am super happy to be the one to receive it!

Nice write up Gene! Gruff makes some very nice knives.
One thing about our craft in general - if the knives are taken care of - they should be around a long time and handed down many times after we are gone.

Thanks for the kind words Gene. I use chainsaw bar oil on the blade for shipping because they are in packaging for up to a couple of weeks and the bar oil is sticky and clings to the blade. I had a failure with wax on a blade going to Florida where humidity must have effected it in transit so I dont take any chances now and use the bar oil.

I would keep it as a collectors piece, but that's me. I think he is an artist. I hope that's a compliment to him. It is in my world.
