Unidentified "Victory" Knife from early 20th Century

My father purchased this knife used in the late 1940s or early 1950s. He said it was pretty old at the time because the sheath was in tatters. There are no identifying marks on it other than the word "Victory" engraved on one side of the blade. Does anyone have any idea on the history of this knife?

Cool knife!! A lot of people are into those huge Bowie style knives! I personally like a more compact hunting or EDC style knife. Don't get me wrong I've made the larger type knives but they are definitely not my favorites. It's like I've always wanted to make a sword, but why!! LOL!

Why not make a sword? I refurbished an old short rapier and an old refrigerator box in a horse loafing shed (no horse, just empty shed) has suffered many repeated stabbings. In time I have become pretty accurate with point of entry. Swords are fun !!!
I think it's dead by now but every once in awhile I get the urge and it's "on guard" LOL...Then a side thrust with one of my daggers from my off hand......Fun and satisfying to actually do something besides just look at them.
When I find a good deal on a "slasher" like a sabre to refurbish, I think the old box will be toast but it will be fun giving it the coup de grace.

Edit>>The rapier and daggers I have fun with arent' signifigicant historical blades.
