To choil or not to choil.?

Precision in your work is always a good thing. Depending on your bevel grind your design #1 wouldn’t need a choil. I would put one in design #2 for ease of sharpening. Looks good. You’re doing a great job.

Very nice. I'm a real big fan of that gentle curve. Choil or no choil . Your choice (obviously)
 
One fact that hasn’t been mentioned. A choil is also a way to correct a slightly off center grind line as well as allowing for a full blade sharpening stroke.

Good point, I have used it to mask a mistake and I think Ed mentioned it sometimes looks like an after thought. Maybe I’ll try without . I could always add it, but can’t fill it back in.
 
The lanyard hole?? reasons why some are on the bottom of the heel or sometimes on top? It’s probably a personal choice again. I just don’t want to add to a design something that is a known functional problem.
 
The lanyard hole is personal preference. My only concern is that if a lanyard is actually attached, will the knife be uncomfortable in my hand? If so, move the hole.
