Tips for horse stall mat on handles?

I am getting ready to put the handles on my 4th knife and I'm using horse stall mat, any suggestions or warning with working with this material?
 
Just my two cents , but i like to use contact cement to adhere the handles to the blade. That is if you are using a full tang blade handle. I have used micarta pins , they seem to work well. Sand to a 220 grit finish and your done. Scott
 
I tried contact cement and didn't have any luck with it. I used West Systems G Flex and Micarta pins and it's working great.
