new knife finished yesterda (sharpening remains tho)

4.7mm O1 steel
22cm OAL
10cm aprox. edge
blue and black G10

it pains me to admit i messed up the handle a bit (profile wise) and a lot (looks wise)

few questions pop to mind!

the process of finalizing the knife (handle shaping, attachment, etc.) is so messy when done i found few smudges on the blade, and 2 scratches at the choil

1 so what (detailed please) steps do you go through finishing the knife to avoid mishaps1 or to clean at least

2 the handle is done by old 80 grit belt, how do i make it look better? ( i gave it a quick pass after by hand with 220 grit but i dont feel that did anything)

im posting more generalized questions on this thread http://knifedogs.com/showthread.php?26834-few-questions if anybody can help with that

thanks for checking and let me know what you think :)

Shokr,

{1} Blue Painter's tape. The 3M brand or whatever cheap brand you can get there? Or just plain white masking tape if you can't find the blue stuff, blue stuff doesn't stick as bad so clean up is easier.
After finishing your blade wrap it in double layer of tape.

{2} Experiment as to what grit finish you like on the synthetic handle stuff. Also sharp belts are a must if you want a consistent finish. I use to take my canvas Micarta to 220G on the machine and then go over it with 320G
By hand.

Very functional and nice looking knife, You should be proud!!
