I haven't done a rasp knife in at least 6 years, finding the heat treatment inconsistent enough to not be worth messing with very often. When I first saw Robert Belcher's Carvex Texas Flag scales, I knew it would take a big knife to do them justice, and this is what I came up with. The 14" overall knife is flat ground from a farrier's rasp, with a convex edge and an 800 grit hand finish. The split guard is stainless, and the full tang is tapered. This one will be at the Lone Star show this weekend. I'm totally a Texas pride guy. I was born here, and my people were here by 1857.
