I second this. I just got one and have yet to explore all it's functionality but it's amazing. If you get one, see if they can lathe you down an aluminum tracking wheel instead of the contact wheel you can get. The metal wheel has way less rounding at the edges.Does the no weld grinder use 1.5" tool arms? If so about the best SGA around is the Reeder unit.
Unless your forging all your knives and making Damascus or going for super flat ABS type knives they are a luxury for sure. One of these would IMO would bring your knives to the next level as far as flatness. That said many fantastic knife makers on here don't have them and produce unbelievable knives.How many of you garage shop folks have a surface grinder? What kind of projects is it most useful on? I am looking a buying one because the price and availability seem right, just not sure what I am going to use it for. My want appears to be exceeding my need and better judgment.
