Surface grinder conversion to belts

In the WIP section there are several posts on how to convert a surface grinder to belts. The problem is, all the pictures don't show up. Probably thanks to Photo Bucket.

So, Those of y0u who posted how to do the conversion. Would you mind posting again with pictures.

Hi Tom!
I had the same problem with the welding forge WIP I posted. Here's a work around to see pic that photo bucket messed up.... I copy/pasted this from the WIP thread.

If you can't see the images in this thread, and use either Chrome or Firefox browsers, you can install an addon to the browser called "Fix embedded Photobucket images". You can find the addon/extension on the addon page for your specific browser. This is a work around to allow viewing images that Photobucket blocked when they abruptly changed their policy of using hosted images on forums, etc.

Ed, thanks so much. I am very much looking forward to seeing your pictures. Thanks for always being willing to share information.

Unfortunately, I am not very computer literate. I will need for someone to help me do what you have suggested. My grandchildren are all computer experts. They all live in another town but I will get them or someone else to help me do what you have suggested.

Thanks again, Tom

I’m attaching a few pics of the belt conversion I did some years ago for a 6x12 surface grinder from Harbor Freight/Enco/Grizzley. This turned out very well and ran smoooooth as silk. The key is to have the aluminum, 90 durometer serrated wheel balanced and made to fit the ginder perfectly. I put together some cad dimensions and had this built. I’ll try and find those later in case it helps folks not have to repeat the work. This conversion features a tracking adjustment to perfectly align the belt to the wheel. I think I posted this one for sale some time back when I relocated from San Antonio to DALLAS and sold my grinder to a friend but kept the conversion in case I needed it again and the wheel wasnt cheap to have built. I’d sell it for a reasonable offer or trade or you can build one also which is a satisfying accomplishment. I think Ed Caffrey’s pics helped me come up with my ideas and it went in my own direction once I had my welder out
My latest project is building a hydraulic rolling mill for Damascus which I can attach and detach from my hydraulic press. Once I get that done I”ll post some pics.

Let me know if you have any questions or need a zoom shot of any of the components.
