Another forum I'm a member of moves the for sale posts that have been sold to a sub-forum of the for sale forum for archival purposes. This cleans up the for sale forum, and doesn't leave a lot of junk laying around.
I think it would work here, because as I was looking at posts and wondering if things had been sold that were old or not, I saw a lot marked sold.
