Anyone know where I can find Hatachi "White" and "Blue" steel?
Or does anyone know of these steels and what would be comperable?

Thanks!

God Bless

A few years ago I had found a place to order it from out of Japan, but the price was high, and the shipping... About that time Don Hanson started selling his W2 and I put it way on the backburner and kinda forgot about it altogether...

I recall that the white paper steel was a 1+% carbon steel with virtually no alloys, very shallow hardening, and the blue paper steel was a low alloy steel in the same ballpark as O1...

Yes Delbert,
Im slowly but surley recovering from my shop theft in 09. I have wanted to get into high performance chef knives for some time and trying to get the steel lined up. Looks like Ill be starting off with 52100 since Aldo was able to hook me up with some 1/8' flat stock.

When I get the firge and press set back up Ill be doing some more integral style but until them it will stock removal. Not really looking forward to grinding hardened 52100 though!!

Thanksk for the input, looks like the first batch will be 52100.

God Bless
Mike
