On most of my working knives I do a 400 satin finish. I start at 320 diagonal, then 400 straight, then 600 straight and then back to 400 in only one direction and tilting the sanding bar as I draw it across.
Test blade completed. Hand sanded to 600 then cleaned up with the block. It worked very very well. That is my “new” satin finish. I will post pics when its done.

They work great! I had to do a last minute touchup before shipping. I used the medium one in the guard and the blade. Just a handful of one way strokes and the scratches went away. The nicest satin finish I’ve ever gotten. I think I could have gotten it even better had I kept going but I was so happy that I dismissed want to push my luck.
