Solder joint

Ok, I've just soldered my first guard onto a blade. I managed to avoid globs of solder at the joint by being judicous in application and wiping the excess away with a popcycle stick. My problems is that the solder left a bright shiny line at the joint that stands out against the satin finish on the blade. How would I make that line less noticable?

Get a piece of brass, I use 3/16 round brass shaped to a chisel edge. The brass will not scratch the steel or stainless guard. Use it to cut the solder off then you can come back with a cratex wheel and drag it across the line to finish it. I use the sharp edged wheels to do it remove the rest of the solder.

Thanks, Mike. I was thinking about giving some of those Cratex wheels a try, just couldn't figure out an application. Now I have one.
