Back at the first part of the year I started a thread asking folks how to know when it's time to start selling your knives. I had been making knives for family, friends, and for myself for about a year and a half then, but hadn't attempted any sales at that point in time. I had some great responses to my question on this forum and received some terrific advise and guidance. Over the last few months I worked on getting my website up and running and posted a few knives for sale. Today, I made my first sale and I couldn't be more thrilled. The gentleman who bought the knife from me is an avid knife collector, and to know that one of my knives may be setting side by side with some of the work of many well-known makers is very humbling. I appreciate all my fellow Knife Dogs who gave me the encouragement I needed to put my work out there to the public.
Here's a crumby photo of that first knife sold. Like many people say, the photo just doesn't do the knife justice. That's another skill I need to work on.

If you're willing, I would love to hear the experience of your first knife sale. It would be enjoyable to see if everyone else was as thrilled as I was when someone appreciated their work enough to show it with their pocketbook.
