Skinner WIP

Just got this one going over the weekend. Roughed with angle grinder then hand filed. First time using micarta for scales ... that stuff is tough. I don’t have a band saw but it’s gonna turn out ok I think. 1080B steel heated to non magnetic and quenched in canola ... 2 x 2 hr cycles at as close to 400-450 as my toaster oven will get me

I like it. Micarta can be some nasty stuff, but it finishes nicely.

Nice work - those bevels look great for being done with an angle grinder and file! Looking forward to seeing the finished knife.

Thanks guys ... I’ve had fun making this. It’s not a WIP anymore!!! @opaul ... you’re right this stuff polished up nicely.

Had some scrap pre-stained leather ... so I banged out a basic sheath today ... still need to mold and polish but it keeps the blade safe ... it does have a belt loop but only took one picture

Thank you sir ... it did take a while but boy was it fun. I must say I’m pretty happy with it.
