Sharpening choil location?

Should choils be cut Totally on the sharp part of the blade or halfway into the ricasso? Does it matter?

I run the plunge at the rear of it as it gives the largest amount of leeway for blade wear and still allows for sharpening right up to the rear of the plunge

I like to split the choil with the plunge line. I aim for the middle, but the only thing I really care about is that I don’t grind past it.

I do it like this too. I started doing it like this because of some mess up on the plunge and the choil removed the problem area. Then I just kept it there because it made sense and looked good.

I've done it both ways. All things being equal, I tend to favor "above" the plunge, anymore, especially on folders and slipjoints. I sometimes depends on the overall look of the piece.
