Serrated edge belts

Has anyone ever tried making their own serrated edge belts with pinking sheers or the like?
The thought occurred to me the other day. I could always buy them, but that’s never stopped me before!
That said I really do like that serrated edge for some operations in handles and such.

I think you're talking about what's called scalloped belts. I use them a lot for shaping handles. The scalloped edge looks like a smooth wave, as opposed to the sharp edge of a pinking shear cut. A sharp edge would likely create a failure point on the side of the belt - and, not offer much relief in the belt edge. Also, cutting a grinding belt with a shear will dull the cutting edge fast.

I agree with Bob. I think you'd have issues with anything but a perfectly formed scallop.

The good news is they have a short learning curve and they're worth every penny for their intended application, and they last a long time, relatively speaking.
