This is my second annual effort to help my wife raise funds for the America Cancer Society. I made this 8" chefs knife for her to raffle off,she will give the knife away on Oct. 23rd,a drawing will be held at the bank where she donates the money.
The knife is 12 7/8" long overall,2 1/8" at the heel, 3/32" thick,full distal taper,flat ground,the blade is Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel with a bead blast matte finish. The handle is maroon linen micarta with pink G10 liners and ribbon inlay with 3/16" stainless corby bolts.

I do inlay on my pantograph mill,I make my own male and female patterns. I can make any thing my weary old mind can dream up. I make the female patterns out of aluminum then pour serasafe in them to make an exact male pattern,then using the patterns I mill out my female and male and they fit together perfectly.

It's a super heavy duty pantograph designed for engraving,this thing was made in the 50's I think. It's heavy duty enough that it can be used as a milling machine,I just install an end mill where the engraving point should go and use it like a mill.
It can be set up for different ratios,I have it set up for 2 to 1, I just make a copy of my knife handle on my copying machine 200% bigger than the original then use that copy to hand make an aluminum pattern with a cut out of my inlay then pour serasafe into that cut out then knock the serasafe out of the cut out and then I have my two patterns,male and female and they are a perfect match. I use a 1/8"stylus to trace my pattern with and a 1/16" end mill to cut out my parts so that's where the reduction comes in.
I have some pictures of this machine on my old,slow desktop PC,I hate to even crank that thing up,but maybe later today ill take some pictures with my iPad and post them on here.

Well we had the drawing for this knife today,we raised $721.00 for The American Cancer Society.
