Im not new to knifemaking, but I have never used scalloped belts.
What are they designed for? Any advantages over a regular 2x72.
I need to order some supplies, and was thinking of adding some to my order.Or would I be wasting my money.

From my understanding, they work well for getting smoothly into a radius with the edge of the belt, and they are less likely to bite into softer handle material creating a groove from the edge of the belt. I've been meaning to pick some up as well to use in guard polishing.

Nathan is exactly right. They will flex and curve into your handle work to make it easier. I have picked up some specials occasionally for 1 by 72 inch belts for handles.
