Perfect gift from Randy Lucius. The hat, which is wicked nice is my go to walking hat now. I love talking about knife making and those interested will now ask me about the hat. Randy felt a little bad that he didn’t know I use a 2 x 42 and not a 2x72and sent me a belt cutter hooked up to 123 blocks. Well.... I am in desperate need of those 123 blocks. I don’t have any and my tool funds are tapped out this year so I was thrilled to get them. The G10 scales are really cool and also got a few drum bits. Thank you Randy.01B5B82D-6975-428D-BD58-149202447422.jpeg

You're right Retro, those 123 blocks are REALLY handy. I've got two sets and use them all the time. The belt splitter? I just stick a knife point in middle of belt then rip it rest of way to make a 1"X72" belt (or in your case 1X42 belt).

Nice cap - never can have too many caps {g}

I’m naive to the belt splitting. Is that to put on smaller wheels? Or a way to conserve belts for smaller projects?
And yes, the hat is really nice. My wife said you look so handsome in it. Ok I said that.

I've never tried a 1" wide belt on small wheels, they might work just fine. I use them when shaping a handle with curves in it the 1" wide belk is good for the inside curves. A 2" wide belt will sometimes "dig in" at the edges because it's putting more pressure on the outside edge of belt compared to the center. A 1" wide belt doesn't have as much of a problem. Try it sometime - you'll like it {g}

Right on the money Ken. I use 1” belts a lot and almost exclusively on my smaller knives.
