Recommended Diameter for Lanyard Hole

I am building a fixed blade with stacked leather handle. The pommel is 440C stainless steel, is 0.410" thick and has 0.393" of solid metal between the tang nut hole and OD of the pommel. I am considering adding a lanyard hole (I would be interested in your thoughts). I plan to use either 550 or 750 paracord, both of which are 0.16" diameter. I'm wondering if some of you more experienced 'KnifeDogs' could recommend a diameter for the lanyard hole? I don't plan to use any tubing. I have seen recommendations for 0.25", but that seems like it would be too large, IMHO. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
.250 is the standard but I have seen 3/16 in some also. 3/16 sounds good for what you want and I would chamfer the hole to not have any sharp edges to fray the cord.
 
My thoughts would be to use a tube for this reason - wear and tear on the exposed leather from the nylon cord. But then again you could use leather lacing. That might look good.
 
Let's see if I've got this right, you're planning to drill the lanyard hole thru the metal pommel? in that case you wouldn't need a metal tube at all. Depending on size of 550 paracord which is listed as 4mm, I'd for sure go with at least a 5mm hole (better 13/64"?), or maybe even 7/32" to make it easier to push the 550 paracord thru. Agreed with a slight bevel on the hole to make it look nice with no sharp edges.
