Frank recently sent me some argillite, he is the only person I know of who uses it but I will be using some soon. I thought others would be interested in this stuff so I will ask my question here.
Can the argullite be split into like slate can?

Yes you should be able to do that but to be on the safe side I would run the piece through a metal cutting band saw with fine teeth. On the other had Calvin you can give the splitting a go. If it doesn't work you know where more is available to you with no strings attatched. Frank
 
Thanks Calvin !!! Great to be recognized as an expert on something. I will pass that along to my wife who would never believe I was an expert at anything except getting out of doing house work. Frank
