Pulling the trigger in the morning

Im ready to pull the trigger on an oven, Im still on the fence. Its the Paragon KM24D VS Evenheat KF 22.5 10"Wx6.5"Hx22.5"D w/ Rampmaster control. I am leaning towards to the Even heat for the bigger box and I like the way the door opens.

Any LAST minute advice?????? Thanks

I have the Ramp Master II, 22.5 and love it. The only problem I've had is one of the corner coil retaining pins broke. It is my understanding they are using a different method now. I have never regretted buying it, except I wish I bought an even deeper one to do short swords. Do as you wish, but I bought a few fire bricks and cut grooves in them to hold the blades edge up. The bricks put the blades higher to the thermo couple and also, I believe, keeps the temp more even, and temp rebound faster after opening the door to get a blade out.

Thanks LRB,
looks like just a few more bucks the 27 inch would be nice, but I think I can get by with the 22.5. Did you get the safety switch on yours?? wondering if its worth it, I could probably make my own up. I agree on the fire brick deal, you have less cubic inches to heat with 2 or 3 bricks in there.
I tried to order this morning, but they never got back with me on the shipping deal. Maybe Monday.

I also have 2 even heat ovens. a 22.5 and a 18 Both with ramp master controllers. I have never tried the other oven you mentioned. My wife has a small paragon and she loves it.

I dont think you can go wrong with either. but for the money. I think the Evenheat is a better oven.

Have fun and stay safe!

FWIW, I won't sell one without the safety switch. Heck, I think it's only about $45 extra - and it covers you at a moment when you already have way too much else on your mind. By the time you bought the switch, actuator, mounting brackets and armoured cable, you wouldn't be saving much. Just my thoughts.

I only recently heard they offered safety switches, so I must assume that I don't have one. What exactly does it do?

It disconnects power to the coils when the door is open - and immediately reconnects and resumes the program when you close it. Steel blades - foil envelopes - metal tongs or pliers - gloves with burn holes - and 220V exposed coils.... maybe just stand barefoot on a wet salty floor for good measure. :34:

It's pretty seamless and on those occasions where you may be oil quenching a couple blades a few minutes apart, the temperature recovery is not noticeably different.

Thanks for the info. A good feature I suppose, but I don't think worth doing a retro fit.
