I was heat treating some 1084 to day and the power went out.Now I reached a temp of around 850 when it happened.The power was out for about 5hrs will this hurt my metal?
You just lost power as you were hardening it or tempering? If you lost power when you were hardening it just run your normal hardening program and quench as normal. If you were tempering and left the blade in to cool you will have to reharden and temper.
