Some folks say a 3hp is needed, but I've never really been able to choke my 2hp grinder down. Unless you're planning to move into commercial work I'd think a 2hp will be plenty. Note, the 2hp running on 120vac with a KBAC 27D is normally said to be 1.5 hp.
