Pics of finished dagger

That's a real nice job on a pattern that is not easy to do. The only thing that I can point out is that the curve of the blades back from the point is not even but you're getting there.

The way I got round that problem was to have a half pattern with the center marked top and bottom. Scribe one side and turn the pattern to scribe the other side and that way the pattern is semetrical on the steel so that grinding to the scribe lines gives an even both sides grind.

Nice job on a challenging shape to grind! A dagger is a design I've never had an interest in making, but after doing my first, I have the urge to do more.

Thanks Gene. It was a fun build and I’m most sure I’ll do another one but with a shorter blade.
I watched FIF last night and they were forging a Fairbain Sykes military dagger. Talk about a toothpick point!
On another note there was a discussion on the other forum about the need to have sharp edges on a dagger design. Some felt it was unnecessary while others thought it was required. I decided to make both edges razor sharp.

I should have done that as well. And will definitely use a pattern next time. This one started out as a grinding exercise and I built it by eye. Obviously one eye must have been off or maybe it is the tri focals ;)
