Pic of the KMG Tensioning Wheel?

Hi guys,

About a year and a half ago I made a grinder from the "no weld" grinder plans and after awhile it went out of alignment a bit and wore down my wheels (my fault, not the fault of the plans). Now it doesn't track as well as it used to so I will be re-machining them down as close to the original as I can get.

Unfortunately I didn't snap a pic/take measurements of the wheels before they went bad and I'm not seeing a good front view pic of them online.

If someone can direct me to a pic, or snap a pic of their tensioning and/or drive wheels looking straight at the wheel so I can get an ideal of what the crown looks like it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

IIRC, the crown on a Beaumont tracking wheel is about 2 degrees or so, but giving it little more crown wouldn't hurt anything in my opinion.

If you need exact dimensions, I'd shoot Rob Frink an email @ Beaumont metal works. He's typically very helpful and should be willing to advise.

I seem to remember 3 degrees.

I have made several at 3* with an 1/8" or so of land in the middle and they work well.

Thanks a lot for the info guys, and especially to D. Crawford for providing the pic. I figured someone out there probably had a pic handy so I was saving bugging Rob as a last resort.

At first I was just going to turn some slightly angled bevels on it then I remembered it has a flat area in the middle and I couldn't remember if it was 1/8", 1/4", 3/8" etc. Then I started thinking maybe the bevels were actually slightly curved/sloped instead of straight angles. I figured I could probably do any of the above and it would work but I figured the wheel worked so well in the first place there no point in me trying to...err...reinvent the wheel.

Thanks again.
